Sustainability
We have extensive experience in the development of lighting products, products that are created through a carefully balanced assessment of features and the impact of light, with a focus on the end-user's experience and well-being. In this way, sustainability is a natural part of our work.
High-quality products last longer. Our products are primarily made from materials that draw from our planet's resources, which is why our primary goal is to develop products that have a long lifespan. We also need to design products in a way that makes it easy to replace or repair individual parts of the product and adopt a circular approach to extend the product's lifespan.
Our high sustainability standards influence our choice of suppliers and the materials we use. We actively work with our suppliers to promote sustainability and set high requirements for documentation and product registration to ensure that they meet our and our customers' high standards for materials.
A significant portion of our carbon footprint comes from transportation. With this in mind, we transport the majority of our goods by boat, where we also reduce our CO2 emissions by using renewable bio-based fuel. This means that we, along with our customers, can always choose a sustainable transportation option.
We are continuously working to improve our sustainability efforts.
SOME OF OUR GOALS:
- Our goal is to offer carbon-offset options for air freight when customers request it.
- Our goal is to be able to present CO2 emissions data at the product level by 2025.
- Our goal is to increase the proportion of women in our organization.
OVERARCHING GOALS WITHIN OUR PARENT COMPANY OEM INTERNATIONAL:
In 2021, OEM introduced a sustainability development program to more clearly define, formulate goals, and intensify sustainability efforts within the group. The first step in this work was to conduct a stakeholder and materiality analysis to create the opportunity to develop new overarching sustainability goals. These goals are linked to Agenda 2030 and some of its 17 global goals.
SUSTAINABLE FUEL FOR ALL AGOLUX BOAT FREIGHTS
Agolux ships goods across the seas, and we want to do so in the most sustainable way possible. That's why we are now purchasing bio-based sustainable fuels, made from waste materials, for all our boat freights through Geodis Sustainable Marine Fuel Insertion Program. This replaces fossil fuels, reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The reductions are associated with certificates through a mass balance system.
The use of sustainable marine fuel through GEODIS reduces our carbon dioxide emissions, and sulfur emissions are reduced by 100%. It will also help drive a sustainable future in the maritime industry and stimulate the production of sustainable fuels. When fossil fuels are used, additional carbon is added to the carbon cycle. It is this additional carbon that sustainable fuels avoid. When sustainable fuels are burned, CO2 is released, which is already part of the natural carbon cycle, resulting in a net-zero effect.
Now, at Agolux, we will reduce emissions from shipping by purchasing sustainable marine fuel to replace fossil fuel in specific ports for every shipment.
Together with our customers, we are working on planning deliveries and having foresight, so that more shipments can go by boat from Asia instead of by air.
The OEM Group has prioritized 4 of the Global Goals based on the focus and risk areas that have been identified as having the greatest significance for both OEM and the group's stakeholders.
